The Office of Historic Preservation reviews zoning in historic districts for compliance with the zoning and historic preservation ordinances and promotes the preservation of historic structures and places in Princeton. The administration of the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is the responsibility of this office. HPC approves plans and additions to structures and land in historic districts and is an advisory board to the Planning Board or Zoning Board of Adjustment for development applications for site plans and subdivisions, and use, density and bulk variances. Office hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm.
Located with our Zoning Department, the Office of Historic Preservation administers the Princeton Historic Preservation Commission, and serves as the initial contact point for the processing of Historic Preservation development applications and waivers. The historic preservation officer will assist homeowners with the various application, and waiver processes. This office also compiles minutes, agendas and prepares for and administrates the Historic Preservation Review. Meetings are typically held the second Monday of each month.
